Starting out in the wholesale closeout business.By Tom David Lewis | Thu, 7 Sep 2006 Think you need money? Your're wrong. It is the last thing you need before you get some experience. Don't spend a nickle until you make a sale and get paid first. No need to take any risk at this stage of the game. There are two positons of power in the closeout business. Knowing where a great deal is and/or having a customer that needs merchandise. Start adding value by canvassing. If you are looking for wholesale closeout buyers, try discount stores, community organizations, schools, corporations, amusement companies, universities... The list is endless because they all want and need to buy great deals, and there are none better than good legitimate closeouts. The other side of this business deals with the real closeout merchandise. There are some decent closeout companies that will work with you. They will ship for you, pay you some agreed upon figure for the sale to your customer, help you make the sale and gradually teach you the business. They want customers for the warehouses full of great stuff they have. If you supply them with customers for their closeout deals you can be in business. Browse the internet and you will find these companies. Interview them. Make sure they understand what you want to do and find out if they will work with you. Some will. Only deal with the closeout companies that actuually own the deals themselves and buy directly from the manufacturer or importer. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
